About Us
MudsharkAudio is now entering its tenth year of operation! Mudshark was first conceived as an
audio restoration company specializing in vinyl and tape media, and we soon broadened our scope to
include live, location, and studio recording. Our capabilities have grown immensely over the years with the goal
of offering our artists the tools, equipment, and expertise necessary for them to produce a
professional portfolio of recordings, whether it's a short demo or full CD. Our production and preproduction work
has allowed artists to receive financial assistance from the
Canada Council for the Arts
and Ontario Arts Council
and to continue their projects with us. We have worked with local and international artists alike, and strive for the
same world class expectation.

JASON THOMPSON first launched Mudshark Audio in 2001, and soon completed a number of restoration
contracts for international clients. Jason is a seasoned recording engineer. He studied at Ottawa's
TARA Audio Recording Academy where he earned top marks, and then went on to work for several studios,
and sound reinforcement companies. This background, coupled with his passion for live recordings,
naturally led to the expansion of Mudshark to include mobile recording capability. Previous to his
recording studies, Jason's musical training was on the drums and guitar, thus explaining his critical
ear for percussion. Jason is also an A+ Certified Computer Technician.
ANDREW BRITTAIN producer, engineer, arranger. Andrew was accepted to Waterloo's prestigious
electrical engineering program but instead turned his studies to Humanities and Social Science,
ultimately deciding to study Music. He received scholarships at the University of Ottawa and
Carleton University where he studied Classical and Jazz music and retained a 9.6 grade point average.
Andrew studied arranging and composing techniques with Yves Laroche, Steven Gellman, John Armstrong;
Acoustics and recording technology with Justin Kurtz; Guitar with Patrick Roux, Michael Murray,
Steve Rollins, and had the opportunity for instruction with Bruce Holzman and Paul Bourdeau; Voice
with Kareen Lacasse, Heather Dufault, and has received instruction from Laurence Ewashko. Andrew has
taught guitar and music theory for over eleven years. In Addition to recording Classical and Jazz
music, he has worked with a number of international artists, and is very active in co-writing and
producing Rock and Pop music with up and coming artists.
